Pilot test removes up to 99% of drugs from wastewater

A pilot project shows that the combination of membrane bioreactors (MBR) and reverse osmosis (RO) leads to the removal of more than 99% pharmaceutical products in wastewaters
The experiments were carried out at the wastewater treatment plant of Castell-Platja d’Aro within the framework of a cooperation project between Institut Català de Recerca de l’Aigua (ICRA), Laboratori d’Enginyeria Química i Ambiental de la UdG (LEQUIA), Consorci Costa Brava (CCB) and Empresa Mixta d’Aigües de la Costa Brava S.A.
