Ecomemb’s mission is the sustainable recovery of reverse osmosis membranes discarded in desalination for subsequent reuse in water treatment. Such membranes are filters widely used in desalination and wastewater treatment plants. One large desalination plant can have up to 20.000 reverse osmosis membranes that are renewed every 5-10 years and then disposed in landfills or incinerated. Ecomemb sustainable membrane recovery technology has been developed within the framework of Mem 2.0 project (TECNIOSpring programme, ACCIÓ) and DECEMEM project (INNOVADORS programme, AGAUR).
