SANITAS Final Conference “Towards a sustainable and integrated urban water management in Europe and beyond: from science to policy”

The final SANITAS conference will be held on September 18th in Barcelona (1 full day conference), starting at 09:00 and finishing at 18:00.

SANITAS, a Marie Curie Initial Training Network financed by the European Commission (7th Framework Programme, 2011-2015) is a Europe-wide research and training platform that is contributing to create the next generation of integrated Urban Water System (UWS) management professionals. SANITAS entails 15 different research projects that have a common denominator: the need to comprehensively address the fundamental rethinking of water management that climate change demands nowadays. The SANITAS research approach focuses on extending knowledge and tools for practical implementation of sustainable and integrated approaches for meeting emerging challenges in UWS management and policy-making.

The final SANITAS conference

The conference aims to integrate the research carried out in the project within the larger context of the EU water policy and the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Water. The aim is to present the research findings with a practical perspective, highlighting their relevance to current and upcoming water issues and policies. More specifically, the SANITAS fellows will present their results and show how their work in the past 3 years is contributing to meet the challenges identified by the EIP Water: water reuse, emerging pollutants, energy efficiency, climate change (adaptation and mitigation), stricter water quality standards, resource recovery, overall efficiency, minimizing environmental impact, or developing integrated/holistic solutions, are just a few of the issues to be discussed at the conference. A round table with prestigious researchers in the network will be organized at the end of the conference, moderated by Prof. Gustaf Olsson from Lund University.

Call for posters

The SANITAS final conference welcomes 2-page abstracts for poster presentations (4000 characters maximum). Posters should address topics related to the EIP Water priorities. Abstracts should be submitted through the registration link below until 30th June 2015.
