CO2BioFuels - Microbial Electrosynthesis of Biofuels from CO2

The CO2Biofuels project pioneers bioelectrochemical technologies for the conversion of carbon dioxide into biofuels (butanol) using innovative electrodes capable of achieving high production rates at low economic costs. Novel high-performance electrodes will be developed during the first year, at the Advanced Water Management Centre of the University of Queensland (Australia). In the second year, at LEQUIA's laboratories, trials of the best materials at bench and pilot-plant demonstration will be performed. Finally, as regards the applications of this technology, on-site demonstration will be arranged to implement the technology in existing BES pilot plant of other R&D projects and commercialised by company/ies interested.
