LEQUIA researcher Ramon Ganigué participated in a project on sewer management that has been awarded with IWA prize to best applied research project in the Asia-Pacific region

The project SCORe “Sewer Corrosion and Odour Research: Putting science into sewers” has been awarded with IWA 2014 prize to best applied research project of Asia-Pacific region. One of the researchers of the leading institution, the University of Queensland, is Dr Ramon Ganigué, currently post-doctoral researcher at UdG LEQUIA group. Dr Oriol Gutiérrez, another key member of the project team, also defended his doctoral thesis at LEQUIA in 2003.


SCORe was completed in 2013 and had a budget of 21 million Euros. The project, which was led by University of Queensland, was collaboratively and successfully delivered by its five research and eleven industry partners in Australia. The key outcomes included an enormous amount of new knowledge (documented in over 130 publications including >60 journal papers, and numerous industry reports), highly innovative new technologies and new powerful modelling tool.
