On Tuesday 25th June Dr. Jesús Colprim Galcerán was elected Director of LEQUIA research group. Jesús Colprim has a degree in Chemical Sciences (UAB, 1991) and a doctorate in Industrial Engineering (UdG, 1998). He is assistant professor of the Department of Chemical, Agrarian and Agro-food Engineering (EQATA) of the University of Girona since 2002, and currently coordinates the Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology. His research activity is focused on the biological removal of nutrients from wastewater, and on the study and development of bioelectrochemical systems applied to water treatment.
Dr. Colprim's appointment seeks to continue and consolidate the work initiated by former director Dr. Manel Poch Espallargas, also scientific coordinator of Campus e-MTA. LEQUIA is a research group of the Institute of the Environment of UdG devoted to the development of eco-innovative water solutions. The group is part of UdG’s Institute of the Environment (IMA), a “consolidated research group” recognised by the Catalan Government and a member of TECNIO, a network that brings together leading experts in applied research and technology transfer in Catalonia. LEQUIA has a multidisciplinary team of 40 people, including postdoctoral and predoctoral researchers and technical and management support staff.
