LEQUIA professors Ignasi Rodríguez-Roda and Joaquim Comas, and Master student Maria Casamitjana will take part in a cooperation project with Universidad Nacional de Colombia. The objective is to diagnose and design an Action Plan to identify water resources needs of vereda Pajarito, in San Cristóbal municipality, a semirural district in spite of being integrated in the urban area of Medellín.

Pollution problems of water fountains of vereda Pajarito are due to overpopulation and poor management of sewage systems. The project has received a grant from the Cooperation Office of UdG and will be carried out from October 2013 to April 2014. The following activities are planned: assessment of vereda Pajarito fountains water quality, study of existing wastewater treatment systems, diagnosis of current situation and a workshop to disseminate project results among local community.
