Membrane bioreactor (MBR) is an emergent technology that allows waste water to be reused. Installation and operation costs were initially high, but are currently being decreased through research and innovation.
In his doctoral thesis “Development of a Decision Support System for the integrated control of membrane bioreactor”, Dr. Hèctor Monclús carried out several partial studies to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) for the integrated control of membrane bioreactor. DSS are computational systems based on knowledge that improve the quality and consistence of decisions, as well as reducing time for decision making when a process has multiple variables.
The thesis was defended in November 2011, and was supervised by Drs. Ignasi Rodríguez-Roda and Joaquim Comas. It is integrated within LEQUIA research line on Environmental Decision Support Systems (EDSS).
