The company CESPA and LEQUIA-UdG are the first global consortium that has applied the PANAMMOX® process for the nitrogen removal in landfill leachates. The step to develop an industrial pilot plant of this process will be demonstrating its feasibility through the operation of a semi-industrial plant.
The problem that be solved by the N-OPTIMOX project affects the current management of controlled landfills, both national and international level. In this sense, the results obtained in this project may be used in those landfills where it is needed the application of a leachate treatment process. This action will open a new market with high economic benefits and will reduce the environmental impact of current processes of treatment of these effluents.
