TreatRec Advanced Training Course 1 “State-of-the art in wastewater treatment, challenges and opportunities”

TreatRec project launches its first training course, entitled “State-of-the art in wastewater treatment, challenges and opportunities”. The course will be held at ICRA headquarters (H2O building, UdG Science Park, Girona) from 15th to 17th September 2015.

TreatRec (Interdisciplinary concepts for municipal wastewater treatment and resource recovery. Tackling future challenges) is a European Industrial Doctorate (EID) project funded by Marie-Curie Actions program of Horizon 2020. TreatRecinvolves two academic partners (ICRA-Catalan Institute for Water Research and UdG-University of Girona) and two non-academic partners (ATKINS and AQUAFIN) with a clear aim of producing a group of young researchers capable of conducting high quality research, but also able to address industrial and societal needs and implement wastewater-related directives in practice. As a general goal, academic and non-academic partners of TreatREC, including WWTP operators, engineers responsible for the design and a water authority which has experience in water policy implementation, a set of recommendations will be generated to provide guidance for decision-makers on upgrading wastewater treatment plants for future challenges such as microcontaminants removal and nutrient recovery from a sustainable perspective.

Attendants are encouraged to attend the SANITAS final conference in Barcelona on September 18th, where there will be a talk on the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) in Water and talks with the main relevant results from SANITAS Marie Curie fellows. See for further details.
